Hello,
I set up a slideshow on our website a few months back with your help using Flicker and Flickerit.

Our website is panasonicflyingtoasters.toastmastersclubs.org

My issue is that it now everytime anyone clicks on the link for "Update" or "View Original Flicker Image" at the bottom of the slide show, the page tries to download different malware programs.

I am thinking about eliminating slideshow altogether and looking at other choices. I just want to know if someone has run into this issue and what your fix has been.

Thank you,

Edwin V.

I was unaware of that. :( I installed the original Flickerit slide show on my club's home page, but never updated it.

It looks like the developer has a presence on Flickr: www.flickr.com/services/apps/72157643524679095/

It looks like they have renamed the widget: flickrit.com/

I would just suggest manually update it.

Thank you for checking on that.
I just checked the links from the slideshow on your homepage www.mindfulcommunicators.org and they seem to have the same issue as our homepage.
Just like you, after I set it up, I rarely checked it until a visitor told us about it.

Will you be updating your site as well? if you do, could you provide step by step instructions on how to make the change?

Thank you and regards,

Edwin V.

I am not the admin for my club's site anymore... I passed that off to someone else.
Otherwise, it would already have been updated.

Personally, I am a bit concerned that Flickrt / now Plicklr seems to now be wanting money. There is a free version, but probably crippled.

Originally, it was just a simple free version that worked well... no money involved.

I may need to retract my endorsement and look for an alternative to endorse.

Slideshows seem to be a common FTH request.

Is it doable to add a form to the site setup pages where users enter/select their images. Then call a shared set of code: www.w3schools.com/w3css/w3css_slideshow.asp

Yeah, I am aware of the number of requests... Wheels are already turning...

We really do not want to replicate functionality that is already on the web. However, the downside of that approach is that we force users to "go fish" to find acceptable widgets to use. Some of those widgets will require JavaScript, which can be a problem, and some will be adware/malware/bad software. I had endorsed Flickrt to try to point users to something I thought worked well w/ FTH... but you see where that got me.

Darned if I do, and darned if I don't. :pinch:
