In the Treasurer module, variables are in [ ] on the first tab, but on the fourth tab, the 'more' note at the bottom places them in {{ }}. Do both work?

Can these be used in any system message, such as if I was sending an email to officers@?

There is currently an inconsistency in how the variables are expressed. I will likely be ditching the [] notation in the future in favor of the {{}} notation, since the latter pattern is unlikely to found in text for anything else. {{}} is also the notation that is commonly used in templates in web development.

Currently, the only place that the [] notation is used is in the dues module. Everywhere else, the {{}} notation should be used.

Also, currently variables are not supported in emails that you send from your email/webmail provider. That could change in the future, if there is enough interest in supporting that functionality for those emails.

In the Dues module, [ ] is used in the first tab and {{ }} is used in the fourth. When sending out a duesnotpaid email, which bracket should I use (example: will {{tres}} work as well as [tres]? Are all the variable available such as onorbefore?).

On a similar but separate note, Are all of these variables available whenever sending a system email such as to officers@?

Marc,

Apparently I was not clear...

Just use [] for the dues notices only... Use {{}} everywhere else, such as the dues follow-up emails. Cannot use {{}} in officers@ emails.

The [] variables are only supported in the actual dues notices. nowhere else...

The {{}} variables are only supported when you author the email on the actual website. nowhere else.

As i stated, I consider there to be inconsistencies w/ the variables which need to get resolved/sorted out.

It has not really been that important until this last version where I started supporting them in more places. Now people are more used to them, so I need to smooth off the rough edges in their use.
