Hi,

Logging in and out of the system smoothly is inconsistent. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes very slow or not at all for certain options. For example when I sent out the agenda for our last meeting it went out no problems. This week it's taking an age.

Similar issues with viewing and editing the agenda.

Me too. Meeting tomorrow night and once again I can't edit the agenda.

Not cool. I know you guys are likely all volunteers and are very helpful, but is there someone you can consult for this ongoing problem?

Same here. We are getting time out errors, which is making it impossible to find out who is on tomorrow's agenda. I had IT validate the firewall was not doing something funny. Any guidance?

Same here. Club 7366. Had this issue last week, and it was resolved but now the issue is happening again.

Our meeting is tonight! If this doesn't get fixed soon we will have to create an agenda outside of the website.

This is getting very frustrating and annoying.

It seems every club wants to do their agendas on Mondays there is very little we can do except tune the server the best we can. It is a traffic jam just like coming back from the cottage.

I would suggest that you might try and do your agendas and weekly planning on another day for now.

Brian,

I appreciate your suggestion, but honestly, there is little we can do when people wait until the last minute to sign-up for roles.

Our club has been using the website since it has been released, and we have always met on Monday nights. This slow website response has only been an issue for our club for the last few weeks. Unless there has been a big upsurge in clubs meeting on Monday nights recently; it seems like there must be some other reason for the slow response recently.

We are experiencing the slowness on days that are not just Monday. Therefore, I'm hesitant to assume it is just an overload.

I agree with Chad - we have been using FTH v2 since its inception (usually 7 days a week) and have not experienced a "Monday" slowdown ... until today.

This is not just a rush hour traffic jam. I and another officer used it on Thursday afternoon last week, and it was unbearably slow. Today, it is even slower. It is basically unusable.

Agree - this website has worked for months/years with no problem. This is NOT a traffic jam problem. It's something else. I also appreciate that you might be volunteers, but someone who knows something needs to correct the site quickly!

I think that Brian's reply is more than sufficient. We are aware of the urgency and are taking appropriate actions. We are not going to litigate every little action we take in these forums--*not* going to happen. We *do* care that you are being negatively impacted by the system operation. (That is not what we want.) However, we don't have the available *volunteer* time and manpower to both do public relations posts on here as well as actually deal with resolving the issues.

This week the email throughput has been very good... so that part of the tuning looks good. We are working on the website responsiveness part of it. It is a process of getting both the email throughput and the website responsiveness optimal and balanced... They are competing processes on the server. I am sorry that you feel that somehow we are not qualified to handle this... I guess all this time that the system has been working well, it must have been some IT gremlins taking care of things? Now where did those gremlins go?

What changed? spamd (Google it.) Also, a lot more clubs are using the system. Again, we are ultimately trying to make the system better for all of you despite all the negative comments and blow back we typically get whenever we make *any* change that people eventually thank us for.

Likewise, please understand that we do not want you to feel like you cannot express your obvious frustration with how the system is performing. Remember, we are Toastmasters using the FreeToastHost system, too--it frustrates us also when it is not working well.

However, keep in mind that if we do not immediately respond to your frustration in your posts or do not respond to your satisfaction... it does *not* mean that we do not care or are ignoring you. (Please *do* post a message if you are having issues with the system.) In most cases, what it means is that we are scrambling to resolve the situation within the constraints of our normal work and life commitments, and we are choosing to focus on resolving the situation rather than posting a reply right away.

Tuesday 7/15 -- I am having slow response with fth websites today on all pages -- "waiting for ...".
Sometimes, the page can't be found at all: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to ...

We were attacked by a badly behaved web crawling robot called "semalt" (look it up).

Brian has blocked them, but they are still trying to access club websites via our server, sometimes 2 or 3 times a second.

I have taken further action to get rid of them, and we will continue to work on addressing this.
