My old account, username : alvinho

was blocked after the upgrade to FTH 2.20. Can I have it back? I badly need some information from it. I tried to reach "an administrator" but since i have no direct contact to brian, my only hope was to send an email directly to roger. I sent 2 messages & did not get a response. What should i do?

well steve, before i decide that, as i was telling roger, i'd like to know
1. why was this account disabled in the 1st place.
2. the error message said something to the effect of "... please contact the administrator"

Since i had no other administrator adress & could not get in touch with roger, the only thing i could do was create another account & masqurade as someone new. Fortunately for me, i have several mail accounts, which other administrators may not have. As you know, most, if not all of us FTH administrators are amateurs. The only reason why we agreed to be webmasters was because we knew nothing about website administration.. at least that was my reason.

i am in the process of "electing" another webmaster & "retiring" from being webmaster. That's not going to be too easy & just became more difficult when
1. things start going up & down
2. my potential webmaster replacements are not terribly "techie" people &
3. they're not fantastically resourceful.

so i'm naturally concerned. Nonetheless, that's why we joined toastmasters. While most of us can handle day-2-day situations, if obstacles are deliberately put in our way, that's definitely not helpful esp when we don't have easy access to someone we can ask. it's not like we can simply look you guys up on "contact us" since there is no such link.

We had a perfect storm. The TM HQ website was updated at the same time as we were updating our system (we had impacts from the TM HQ website update), and we had a very old anti-hacker script that was implemented a long time ago that suddenly kicked in on us without warning and disabled a number of the forum accounts.

I was locked out of the forum also, as were a number of other FTH Ambassadors. We basically did what you did and created another support account. I think the only person with a really clear take on what exactly happened is Brian, since he essentially figured out what was going on.

If you are looking for promises or guarantees, we cannot provide that. We are all volunteers and Toastmasters giving some of our spare time in service of Toastmasters clubs and districts. We do try very hard to prevent problems, but sometimes they happen anyway. We do get concerned when users are having problems with the system, and we are committed to getting those issues resolved as quickly as we can.

You were locked out too?!? crikey  okay, let's do the necessary for now. Can you delete the account with username : "alvinh" so that the system ABSOLUTELY does not remember that i ever created such an account.

If this ever happens again, i'm gonna do exactly the same thing.. so the system had better not remember that i ever created such an account least i get locked out on 2 counts!

Henceforth, i will create an SOP (standard operational procedure) for my replacement webmaster when i retire, probably at the end of this term, that this is what he should do. i might move on to be webmaster of some other club i'm chartering, so i'll still be on the forum for some time.
