The Agenda Replies feature has long been a source of confusion and has been the cause of some technical challenges because of how it was implemented.

As of this post, I am ditching the global Agenda Replies setting in the Email and Contact Forms module and its clone in the Agenda Global Settings module.

However, I am not so much getting rid of the overall concept as I am re-implementing it with a different approach to accomplish the same objective.

If you look below, you will see that what I have done is to move the global setting to the bottom of the Email Agendas dialog, where you can set it individually for each agenda email you sent out (if you want). This gives you and your members more flexibility. Your selection is hidden in the resulting agenda email (in the HTML) and picked up and processed by the list server for any replies to the email.



Additionally, the meeting number is now also hidden in the agenda email (in the HTML) instead of being an add-on to the reply to email address. This meeting number is used by the list server to determine which members are associated with each agenda.

BTW, I am planning to tweak the Agenda Emails a bit (stay tuned), but my focus right now was on the Agenda Replies settings. ;)

Thank you for improving this functionality. However, I still wish there was a "Reply to Sender Only" option. As I explained in a previous post, my club (West End) has appointed someone other than the VP Education to handle the agenda. A "Sender Only" option would allow our club to limit (instead of encourage) mass emails while allowing everyone to reply directly to the agenda manager - and her alone - without having to change the "To" field.

Patience, please. I intend to add that. However, there are still a lot of subtle complexities that I need to sort out with the agenda emails behind the scenes. Previously, we could not support a "Sender Only" option, because the reply functionality occurred only after the reply was received... the sender's identity was not known then. Now, because the intended reply behavior is set by the sender (as I think it should be), the sender's identity is available and new things become possible.

My view is that the "Send To" and "Reply To" selections should be pop up checklists (multiple selections possible)...

I am thinking the checklists should be like the following... Any feedback on this?

We use "Sorry I can't attend this meeting" for apologies - an option to exclude such roles from meeting functionaries would be handy.
