One global issue I see is that when the person who set the option is replace that information is not being passed on. Something to think about for the future. How to reconfirm all options set.

Roles taken by members on the sign-up screen are also automatically marked as confirmed.


If someone signs up for a role 5 weeks in advance I do not feel it should be auto confirmed. Signed up with in a week of meeting, yes auto confirm.

That is why the expirations exist. If someone signs-up 5 weeks in advance and you confirm them 3 weeks out, then they still may forget.

I could just kill the automatic confirmation on taking roles from the signup screen. Then they would just do two clicks, though, since the confirmation button would show right up after taking the role.

Hi Steve, thank you for this amazing feature! Here my 2 cents on how I see it most useful:

1) Auto confirm if the role is signed up less than a week before (or even absent since I might sign up but I want to confirm the day before the meeting)
2) Confirmation mark expiration 2 weeks (or around this, I don't know if it's a mistake, now i see that the expiration is 365 days)
2b) actually since it would expire it might make more sense not to allow the confirmation more than 2 weeks before (even better if we can set how much in advance we want our club to allow the confirmation so everyone can manage it independently)
3) possibility to unmark the confirmation (I might confirm 10 days before but something comes up and I'm not 100% sure)

This, in my opinion, will give us the possibility to use the email system much more effectively!

Hi Steve, thank you for this amazing feature! Here my 2 cents on how I see it most useful:

No, 365 is intentional, not a bug, to *disable* the expirations. In other words, expirations are *not used*, by default. Some clubs will want the expirations, some will not.

No, I am not doing that on the sign-up screen.... Just drop the role. I do not want to support a lot of extraneous quirks on this feature. Besides, confirmations can be unmarked in the agenda editor.

This, in my opinion, will give us the possibility to use the email system much more effectively!

I'm sorry if I did upset you, I was just trying to give some input. The confirmation may or may not expire, at the end it's not really important. My only concern is that if someone signs up for a role 4 weeks or 5 weeks in advance he will not remember and definitely is not confirmed (either someone assigned him or he signed up alone from the website), so the double click option, in my opinion, is much better for everyone.

I am *not* upset... very sorry if my tone came across that way. :oops:

However, you have to keep in mind that I am coming that this from a different perspective that you may be. I am trying to get this working for a majority of clubs, which may mean that it does not work perfectly for any one club.

I think maybe am just too close to all the coding right now... (Probably need to take a break.)

I have added a new "master switch" in the Agenda Global Settings in the Admin Console to enable/disable this role confirmations feature. I believe that some clubs will not want to use it, so now they do not have to. The setting is off by default, so you have to actually enable role confirmations now to use the functionality. You may want to check this setting now for your club if you wish to use role confirmations:

I respectfully disagree. I do not believe that any club should be forced to use any particular feature of FTH. Granted, there are features that are integral to the system, but this does not fall into that category. Also, I have compared notes w/ others on this, and I tend to believe that this feature will be used by clubs that have more communications challenges between members. For contrast, though, my club works very well already and I am not convinced that my club will use this. Again, this is another example of how I try to implement features that will work for a majority of clubs, regardless of what my club does.

Will any of these NEW FEATURES be documented in the 45 page Administrators Guide?

I hope that many of these "cool" or helpful new features will be included in 45 page Administrators Guide that Administrators are encouraged to download and read. That way at least the Administrator will know about them, and can be passed along to the other club officers (Treasurer, VPE, VPM) who can be delegated to use some of them.

Otherwise I, like most Administrators, only learn about new features by reviewing the FTH 2.0 Support Blog postings periodically. OR I get an email update of recent replies if I previously made a comment on a subject; for example, today's email had 12 updates just to this subject since yesterday, so I read the entire list. VPEs, VPMs and Treasurers should also be encouraged to open accounts to access the FTH 2.0 Support Blog.

While I am not sure what you are referring to, our online documentation on this support website will be updated once everything is stable and as time permits... keep in mind that we have limited resources and people, so things sometimes take a bit longer.

However, I would also note that the ***only*** authoritative documentation for the system are the online docs on this support website. While we do sometimes do PowerPoints and the like on our own, those tend to be a bit more promotional in nature, and are not really the same as the docs on this support website. I know that there are a number of FTH how to video's and independent documentation out there. Frequently, those are incomplete, erroneous, or stilted to a particular way to doing things, and we cannot vouch for their accuracy and we are not responsible for their content.

Again, the authoritative docs are the ones on this support website. Those docs are the ones that we strive to maintain and they are the ones that I contribute to. Essentially, the "official docs" are the ones that Jane Atkinson says are the official docs. Anybody that tells you that they have the inside track on documenting the system via some other means is trying to sell you snake oil.

If anyone wants to help with our documentation, I would direct you to Jane.

Please Please don't use colors alone to designate a confirmed role. It will not be helpful to us color challenged folks. I've seen red graphic Xs and green checkmarks, which covers all eyes. Attached.

Having the confirmation indication on the agenda is more visual than a report. Emailing an agenda with Xs and checkmarks is an extra reminder system.

Please Please don't use colors alone to designate a confirmed role. It will not be helpful to us color challenged folks. I've seen red graphic Xs and green checkmarks, which covers all eyes. Attached.

Having the confirmation indication on the agenda is more visual than a report. Emailing an agenda with Xs and checkmarks is an extra reminder system.


What are you referring to? We do not just use colors for confirmed roles... I think you are presuming something that is just not true.

Ok, I ditched the "auto-confirm" when you take a role on the sign-up screen--now you have to click to take a role, then a confirm button is presented that you can also click.

I also fixed a few bugs.

On to other things now! ;)
