I would like to be able to build a simple spreadsheet chart to be used for tracking the educational achievements of newer members (CC and CL). The chart would be on the website and as members complete the various projects they would just insert the date of completion there. Only members can update their own charts. The entire chart would be visible to all members or could be restricted to be seen by only the VPE and other officers or any combination. The Question - has anyone done anything like this or do anyone have alternative suggestions how I can get this done. GoogleSheets may work but I am not sure how to integrate it on to the FTH Website. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

Google sheets lets you embed data into a webpage. Watch this quick video showing another member how an embedded chart functions.

How to embed Google doc content: support.google.com/docs/answer/37579?hl=en#embed

Hi, Ralston!!

I like the idea of keeping achievement data in the website. I also suspect that if there's a good way to do it, it'll involve some workarounds that we do on our own. After all, once Pathways kicks in, it'll all get phased out.

Speaking of Pathways, there's some really serious work going on behind the scenes right now to add Pathways support to FTH. You might start another thread, asking whether the Pathways support might eventually allow what you're asking for. I'd be really polite about it, as this is some really major stuff, being developed and tested by 100% volunteer work. (Between me and thee, these folks are $%&# crazy extraordinarily dedicated.) They're working very hard to wring out as many bugs as possible, so that all the FTH users won't have to...

In the mean time, this wouldn't be a bad place to discuss other tricks we might use right now. (Brad... the stuff you described could be useful in a lot of places; thanks...)

Back to Ralston... I hope you'll take the time to share anything you manage to get working. Don't forget that as members leave the club, we'd want a way to archive all of their data, especially since some lapsed members return.

Keep thinkin'...

Wes B.

Nope... not part of the Pathways update. FTH 1.0 (many years ago) had achievement tracking in it, but very few users used it, so it was dropped from FTH 2.0. Because we are volunteers we have be very picky where we invest our time so that we get maximum benefits for time invested.

Thanks to all of you for your great responses. Wesb you're right-those guys who support us go through hoops to make changes and are extraordinary. This is why I hesitate to ask for a major change given that there might not be an appetite for this type of thing by many members. I am just looking to see if anyone had a simple work around.. Thank you Brad for your suggestion, I will have a look at it.

I always encourage asking... e.g. please do post improvement suggestions. (I refer back to them.) However, keep it simple and try to make the point of how your suggestion could be useful to many other clubs beyond yours. Those tend to grab my attention.
