Hello,

Club 1781.

This is NOT a high priority issue. I did a search and couldn't find this, so I thought I would ask.

I was speaking to our VPE, and we agreed that it would be nice to be able to send mail with our officer email address.

We both use Gmail. In Gmail, we can add a secondary SEND FROM address. However, when I try to add This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., I am asked for my mail server and credentials. I put in mail.summittoastmasters.com, then my credentials for my club, after which I get a note that the server cannot be reached.

Any thoughts on how to get this to work?

FTH does not provide email addresses you can send from.

You can use your Gmail address to send to your club Officers list.

We only provide email forwarders.

Fair enough.

To be clear, I'm not trying to use my VPPR email address to send email TO our officers, but FROM our officers.

For example, as the VPPR, most of my club-related email goes to recent guests to remind them of an upcoming meeting, and to induce them to return, and hopefully to join. It would look much more official if those emails came from my VPPR email address. Then, when I pass off the role to someone new, they could continue to use the same address.

The same is true of the VPE. She sends many an email about upcoming meetings, roles, etc. It would be nice if these emails came from her VPE address, and people would know to look for that address, which she could then pass on to the next VPE.

Perhaps this might be considered as a future enhancement.

Kevin,

Brian knows what you are talking about, and so do I...

Sorry, this will not be considered as a future enhancement. The system is designed for email to come from a limited set of email addresses to lessen the chance of it getting stuck in spam filters. Additionally, it is not our intent for the system to provide full email accounts with email dedicated addresses that you email from--accounts require a lot of storage. The email system is designed to be strictly an email forwarder and distribution list provider. Anything beyond that is a "bridge too far". ;)

What you are suggesting has been discussed in the past and is not part of the intended system design scope.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, sometimes we have to decline, and unfortunately this is one of those cases. :S
