There have been several users in the past that have criticized our display of actual names in the Member Login pop-up vs requiring the use of user names instead. Our rebuttal has been that you can set your name as anything you want in the system, even Roger Rabbit or Bugs Bunny, and the use of HTTPS keeps your personal data secure in transit to / from the server.

While I still tend to think these concerns are a bit overblown, I understand that members may not want Roger Rabbit or Bugs Bunny showing up an agenda or Role Report. Because of that, I decided to just go ahead and add support for entering a user name of your preference in your Member Profile that you can then use for Member Logins (only). It was not too much effort to add this and if it makes people feel more secure, then I am fine with that. It may make our ability to resolve member specific website issues a bit more challenging, but I can live with that.
(Don't get upset at us if we ask you for your username for support purposes, though. ;) )

Now... The caveat is that this is an either / or kind of feature. Either you enter a made up username in your Member Profile and use that for logins (but not your actual name) or you don't, and you continue to just pick your actual name from the pop-up list. The username is only used for Member logins. Everywhere else, you will see your actual name. (on agendas, reports, etc.)

Here is a screen capture of the new setting in the Member Profile (must be at least 6 letters, digits, and/or _ - ) :
