661: Hello:

What are the best practices for adding new members using the new "Opt. In" feature built into freetoasthost?
Is the welcome email automatically sent after the new member opts in?

Thanks!
Petter

The opt-in email is automatically sent by the system whenever someone is added in any category.
For members you still have to manually send the welcome email after the member opts-in.

Does the Admin/Webmaster automatically get a copy of the Opt-in email sent to each new member, or just a notification that one was sent? (If I got a copy I don't remember so I'll have to look for it; if I did not get a copy, I wish there was the ability to resend it if a new member hasn't Opted-in within X-days - say from the notification pop-up I get that someone will be removed in Y days.)
I have a new member who either lost the original message (he joined June 2 and will be removed by July 5), or become confused about it.
If the ability allowing Admin to resend Opt-in messages (from the pop-up) can't be added, would it be better to
1) Remove him now (before FTH automatically removes him), then add him again to generate a new Opt-in message?
2) OR let FTH delete him automatically first, and then I add him again so FTH will generate a new Opt-in message for him?

desplainestoastmasters:

You should review the Settings tab in the Membership Management module.
I already thought of many of things you are asking about, including the resending of opt-ins that Brian mentions.

Thanks. Brian & Steve. I hadn't even noticed it among the long list of Member Management option. (I haven't used more than two in that list in 3 years as Admin.) I was able to resent the Opt-in request, and the person finally Opted-in so he now appears among the Members in Agenda droplists. Am I the only Webmaster that didn't notice it? PS: If it was so important, it should have been at the top of the list (in Red).
