FTH4 Making your club standout

Locked 5 replies · 274 views

Hi great Ambassadors, Those are all good suggestions, in your recent email "FTH4 Making your club standout", and we have implemented all of them.
We use the website primarily as an advertisement to encourage visitors to check us out. If we could make a few changes to the structure of the homepage, it would work even better in that role. Specifically:
Remove the Meetings tab. We tell people, elsewhere on the homepage, that we meet every Tuesday. The Meeting tab clutters the menu without offering useful info to our prospects.
Allow more text space in the hero section of the homepage.
Remove two of the instances of the club name from the homepage. Currently, you force every club to have their name in three places on the home page. That unnecessary redundancy looks and is unprofessional.
 Best regards,
John Williams, VPE and Admin, club 3963
1) We don't force the club name 3 times you have the choice to put other text in the Banner Text area you have put a "."
2) the meeting tab is the calendar of when your meetings are and is auto generated when you create dated agendas.
3) actually we are seeing clubs get creative on getting their message into the hero section. it is not more text but better words that are needed.
Thank you,

Hi Brian,

Thank you for all the great stuff you do for all our clubs.

The new websites are a big improvement over FTH3, in many ways. Easy to edit, fast, good looking.

I will stop creating dated agendas so we can drop the Meeting tab. Thanks for that tip.

We have been very successful using FTH3 for our website - especially for prospect acquisition. That success was, in part, due to all the Toastmasters and public speaking info on our many daughter pages (which are now hidden away under Club Pages and Links) and to the carefully crafted message on the home page.

The more limited space in the hero section of the FTH4 home page forced us to drop some of that FTH3 content (text, layout and font) that was in the FTH3 hero section. That content can't just be pushed below the fold because the interrupting material, that we are forced to use (Meeting Info, Visit as a Guest, and Podcast), breaks the logical flow. More space in the hero section would be a game changer for us.

We think our words ARE "better words" and that the new website puts too tight a limit on the number of them, on layout and on font choices. Font choice impacts the available hero space, limiting creativity in that way too.

The "." is our way of removing the distracting text from above the Headline in the hero. We'd love to be able to replace the "." with no text and no space.

We'd also love to be able to remove one of the two remaining club names from the top of the home page. The one in the upper left corner is the best one to keep. One name is enough.

Best regards,

You misunderstood we will NOT be dropping the meeting tab. You need to either manually create your meeting dates or created dated agendas so your calendar is populated.

The other template changes you are looking for are not scheduled for review any time soon.

👍 Thanked by John

What if we don't create ANY meeting agendas? Will that automatically remove the Meetings tab.
No, If you do not create any dated agendas you have a blank calendar.
