To facilitate member dues payments during this time when our club is not meeting, one of our members has set up a Venmo account linked to the address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. That way, we figure, Venmo messages will always go to whoever is the current treasurer. But SOME IMPORTANT MESSAGES ARE NOT COMING THROUGH. I did receive messages advising that the account had been set up and that the password had been changed, but when I tried to log in, since I was using a different device than the other member had used to set up the account, Venmo wants to send a 4-digit code via email, which I can use to verify my login. I've tried this four times now. The login codes do not come through. If I can't get the codes, I can't access the account. Suggestions?

I haven't a clue what a Venmo is?
Why would a Venmo send email?
What is your club number?
Where would the email come from?
Are you receiving any of the emails?

Thank you,

Venmo is an online money transfer utility. See venmo.com/ .
Similar to an online banking service, they would send email for a variety of reasons. When the account is first set up, of course, they have to send a message to confirm that the email address a customer has provided is a good address. Later, when someone tries to access the account from an unfamiliar device, they have to confirm that the person seeking access is the same person who receives email at the registered address. That's why they send out a 4-digit code that the user has to enter before the login can be completed.
Since I haven't received any of the emails with codes, I don't know what address they would come from. The one message I did receive, after the account password was changed, came from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
My club number, as noted in my forum signature, is 2932.

Some clubs because of spam have black listed vemo.com
You will need to add @vemo.com to the exception list for the black list in email security.

Thank you, Brian. I was skeptical that @venmo.com could have been blacklisted since, as I noted previously, I HAD received one previous message from that domain. However, in looking at the email security settings, I noticed that the "crowd-sourced blacklist" could be disabled. So I did that, then went back to venmo.com to attempt my login again. Lo and behold, this time the login code I needed DID come through. I can't tell, though, whether that message came from venmo.com or from some slightly different domain name, because the original sender's email address is not shown in the forwarded message.
Going back into security settings, I noticed that one can call up and review the crowd-sourced blacklist, so I did that to check whether it includes @venmo.com. Well, it does and it doesn't; what I found was @venmo.com with four spaces in front of it. What does that mean? Does that mean some venmo.com address will be blocked and others won't?

Yes, the dots refer to a specific local-part of the email address.
If you follow the advice Brian gave and put @venmo.com in the "exceptions" portion of the crowd-sourced blacklist then any email from that domain will get to your club. It will still be blacklisted for other clubs, and other blacklisted addresses won't get to your club (assuming you are using crowd-sourced email again.

If you hit "reply" to the email you received, you should see the sender address in the To box

Thank you Pam, and thanks again to Brian. I've confirmed that the email showing the access code did indeed come from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. I have now reactivated the crowd-sourced blacklist and added @venmo.com to the exceptions box, so I think everything should be fine now. Best regards, people. Stay home and stay healthy!
