Good Morning,

Today I attempted to update our Contest page (www.dunedintoastmasters.com/contest.html) however when I clicked on the "Edit this Page" link after signing in the Content Editor came up blank.

I then tried to access via the Admin Console >> Custome Web Pages >> Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contest and it was also blank. For yucks and giggles I checked a few other custom pages and the same results.

Interestingly, the editor works in the Agenda Editor and Site Admin >> Main Content

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Rob,

I can see everything using Google Chrome. What browser are you using? Have you cleared your cache?

Rob,

I can also see everything under IE9/Windows 7.

As Roger notes, clearing your cache is probably a good first start... particularly when you are changing any of your webpages. You should clear it regularly as you are making changes so that the page that your browser shows you is all the new information.

I am running FireFox 15.0. I have the browser set to clear the cache every time FireFox closes.

So I started checking with other browsers.

Same problem with IE 9.0.9

Same problem with Google Chrome 21

But on Safari 5.1.7 I am able to see the Editor box.

So, since I was in there, I fixed the humorous contest page so that IE 9 would not show a border around the buttons. I save it to preview and guess what... now I have the same problem in Safari!!

This I don't get.

Sounds like a localized issue...

Keep in mind that you may have to force clearing the cache sometimes before you close your browser if you want to see certain webpage changes immediately in order to insure that the browser uses the updated webpage content.

Also...

Make sure that your browser is up to date.

Make sure your Adobe Flash is still loaded and up to date.

Also, try loading a browser without any add-ons, in case you inadvertently loaded an add-on by mistake that is causing issues. This will likely also disable Flash, but it may help to determine if you have an add-on that is causing the issue.

If none of the above helps, you may want to try reverting the browser to its default settings in case something has changed that is causing this. Only do this as a last resort, though, so that you don't have to start from scratch with resetting all the settings.

Not exactly sure what happened but, everything is running fine now. I updated Adobe Reader and enabled AddBlockPlus plug in which had been disabled for some reason (probably when I update firefox at some point).

It wouldn't seem like that would make a difference but hey, it works now.

You never know... I have found that sometimes add-ins and settings seem to work fine for a while, then some seemingly innocuous update to the browser or add-in sets everything out of whack.

For example, I had a situation about six months ago where I finally figured out why could not watch Netflix streaming moviies under IE9 for the prior 9 months even though, originally, I was able to watch streaming movies on IE9 without any issues when I signed up for Netflix. The issue drove me nuts trying to figure out what was wrong... I finally figured out that Microsoft had made a small security "improvement" to the Silverlight player that Netflix uses that required me explicitly call out the Netflix website as a "safe" website in the IE9 security tab. :pinch:

Lesson learned: sometimes small things matter. ;)
