Hello. I have been the admin for the site for a number of years:
woodfords.toastmastersclubs.org

Previousy, everything has run excellently well for years.

For the last month, though, when members try to log in, they now encounter a message that says they entered the INCORRECT password, after they entered it correctly. Even if they try to re-enter it because of a possibility of entering incorrectly, the same message appears. So, they use the send to re-set password system, which correctly sends them an email to re-set the password. When they do that, the new log in DOES work. However, it confusingly says they need to "close the dialog box" and then enter, although it LOOKS like they should just enter the the newly chosen password again. Anyway, this system DOES get them in to the site, as long as they do not get confused by that last confusing message.

I have experienced this problem too, so I confirm that it IS a new problem, using my Membership log in (not my Admin log in).

Can this please be fixed?

Thanks.

You need to provide the exact steps for me to reproduce the issue. Are you sure it is not a cookies issue?

What browser?

Thank you for replying.

I did give you the sequence. Do you need me to cut and paste it?

This problem never occurred before, but now happens for all members on our website.

I do not know if it is a cookie issue.

Maybe you have just fixed it right now, or maybe the site is temperamental.... but it seems to be working correctly now.

Please keep an eye on the site just in case it it is "losing" our members' existing logins/passwords. I am fearful to say it is "all working," so quickly in case it breaks down again later this same way.

Does that makes sense?

Thanks.

Mark,

I am the system developer... .I write the software code for the system.

You appear to have a fairly new website.... you *must* enable cookies for your website. That is where the login status is stored.

I created myself as a member in your club website, did the create password thing, logged out, logged back in with the password. Bottom line: no issues. I logged in as you, no issues.

You maybe have not enabled your cookie usage for your browser... that will cause logouts and problems with logins. See the following: support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/cookie-settings

If you still think you are having an issue, then I need you to tell me what to do differently so that I can reproduce what you are seeing. Right now, I do not see any problem except maybe what would be caused by cookie issues.

This was most definitely NOT a "new" website. I have been the Admin of this site since... wait for it... wait for it...
2010. I was here with this site when you upgradedit from FTH 1.0 to the current FTH 2.0. So I would ask you to PLEASE take this more seriously than you are taking this issue.

So that you know, I am also a webhost in my own non-Toastmasters business. So I have a bit of savvy in these matters.

For these reasons, I ask you to Please take this more seriously.

I have made no changes to my computer or browser. And other members having problems which they did not have before is a problem too, of course. Yes, for PRIVACY, I do clear my cache of cookies from the browser. But that should NOT have ANY impact on my using the username and password into the dialog box. If you changed the code to require the new log in to be based on past cookies, that is an unwitting code-fail because it does not take into account the need for users to clear their caches (unconnected to you, of course).

But that MIGHT not be the problem anyway, because I did test & clean my cache, closed the Firefox browser, re-started the browser, and tried to log in - with SUCCESS (now).

Anyway, I will watch to see if any more members have problems with the site. But I ask you to please remember, this is NOT a new siote and I am not an inexperienced newbie. There HAS been a real problem for the last month, and I have asked for your help as well as letting you know that such a real problem does exist.

I am hopeful that the problem IS fixed. We will wait with hope! :-)
