We have a new member.  She is very computer literate but has issues with her password when she logs into a free toasthost website. The first time she told me this, I reset her password and it worked a few times, then stopped working.  I verified this from my side.  The new password did not work.

Her name is Kabita Behera  (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).  If I didn't test this on my side, I would see if her computer had problems.  To be honest, this is the first time I ever heard of a password not working.  Is there anyway to check on this?  She is starting passwords with ! and initially with a ;.  I wonder if she should try it with alpha characters instead.

Sorry to bother you.

I had her reset the password again, this time without the character.  She cleared her cache.  But I'm confused because she gave me her password before and the same thing happened.  She has a gmail account.  Would that cause issues?

I read the problem earlier in the forum. It refers to an article on cookies. I sent that to her. But I think she already does this. She is an IT manager.

Are you sure that it is her password that is the problem, or is she getting a message that she has logged in from an unrecognized device, and perhaps interpreting that as a password problem?  I see that message has been sent 8 times.

Ask her to acknowledge the unrecognized device message (or she can disable the notifications in her member profile).   Then see if the password works.

No, the member is not getting any sort of error message from the server.  I asked other if anyone else had this problem.  The answer was that no one else had any password problem.  The member used a character (!) as the first word in the password.  I wonder if using a character was rejected.  The weird thing was that it worked for several times, then all of a sudden after 4 times it didn't work.
I had her reset the password without the character.  It was a guess.  We will see what happens.  I verified from my end that the password that worked before, for some reason stopped working.  This is a mystery.

I was thinking of changing my password and putting a character first.  Just to see if my password gets rejected.

I figured this out.  I tested it by setting a character the new member used.  According to the password requirements:You have errors in your form below. Please scroll down and correct the following:
  1. =12.0ptInvalid password - passwords may only contain 10 or more of A-Z, a-z, 0-9, or _~!@#$&*-+=
=12.0ptShe must have received an error message but my question is how was she able to put in a character that was invalid?  No wonder it didn't work for her.  She used a ; (semicolon)
Do I need a life or what :)

The semicolon shouldn't have taken, she would have triggered the same error message you saw.  The exclamation mark is valid.
If she *thought* her password had a semicolon it would have shown as an invalid password when she tried using it.

She read me her password and it did start with the semi colon...I wonder how she missed this error message. But its water under the bridge. I had her remove the character from the beginning

I would be curious as to how she was able to include a semi in the password.  That should not be happening.

I saw this when I logged on as administrator.  The member in question was in it.  What does it mean?

It refers to the google recaptch score...it was probably when I was testing her password since that is my ip address.

Yeah, probably.  Google RECAPTCHA just thought that the activity was suspicious.
