Excessive spam was created by RobynF
Hello. Two of my clubs are recently seeing excessive spam emails. We keep adding the email addresses to the black list. Is there something else we could do?

Thanks!
Robyn

Since you did not provide any club #s for us to look at, I just presumed you are referring to those in your forum signature text.

For club # 2309983, I do see that the Spam Assassin Threshold has been adjusted down from the default of 5 (means it was made to be more aggressive in combating spam)... Good! However, the Crowd-Sourced Blacklist is disabled. I would recommend re-enabling the Crowd-Sourced Blacklist.

For club # 1526154, I see that the Crowd-Sourced Blacklist is enabled... Good! However, the Spam Assassin Threshold has been adjusted *up* from the default of 5 (means it was made to be *less* aggressive in combatting spam). I would never recommend making the Spam Assassin Threshold higher than 5. In your case, I would probably recommend setting it to 4 for this club and seeing if that has a good effect.

Note that some clubs take a knee-jerk approach and set their Spam Assassin Threshold immediately to 3, and they later wonder why they are not getting emails. A value of 3 is usually too aggressive, and will cause the Spam Assassin code to block some normal emails as spam. For this reason, I strongly recommend that you reduce the threshold below 5 in small increments and evaluate it after each change.

Thank you Steve! I've made your recommended adjustments. Hopefully it decreases the spam.

And yes, it was for those two clubs.
