Thanks, I will do that in future.

It would be good if this requirement could be made more obvious to users. The CKEdit interface looks like it is wysiwyg, I 'm sure not many users would know to go into the source and hand edit it when they can already see the smiley in front of them as they create the message.

If it is the case that you don't expect people to use these then can that part of the editor be disabled?

That would save embarrassment when it doesn't work as expected.

The full path (via the {{WEBURL}} field) is now being patched in to the CKEditor config setting "smiley_path" to allow for use in emails. (just changed it)
