When I send an email to club officers I (naturally) get a copy of it. When I hover over the message header (in Google mail) I see thatg the email was sent from "Toastmasters Club 1293730 on behalf of Shirley Jones, ACB, ALB)". This is very confusing. She was the first club President, but has not been in the club for over a year. I've looked on the FTH web site but cannot find anything that even hints at why such would happen. Shouldn't this be showing who actually is sending the message?

Don't hover over actually display the full email headers and see what they say.

If they are still saying the wrong information please post the full headers in this thread

That actually is a Gmail issue ... Gmail has this nasty habit of keeping the first descriptive name it ever encounters for an email address and never updating it They also do not provide any way for users to correct it.

So... originally, you probably got an email from server@toastmastersclubs.org at some point in the past and it was from Shirley... That was probably the first email from server@toastmastersclubs.org in your inbox. Gmail has basically been reusing the descriptive name for that email address ever since. It would be better if they used the descriptive name from the most *recent* occurance of server@toastmastersclubs.org found in your inbox, but they do not do that.

It is not that FTH is wrong, it is just that Gmail is ignoring the descriptive name we sent them in some cases.

If anyone knows of a simple way to force Gmail to reset these descriptive names, I am all ears. I have not found a way, and it drives me nuts, also.
