spam email was created by gptoast
Hello

We have been using an email address info@gulfporttoastmasters.com since the inception of our club. We now use the emails from free toast host. I set up a custom group to handle the info@gulfporttoastmasters.com email so that we could still use it since it was on most of our marketing material. I made this change about a month ago.

Recently we have noticed spam email being sent to info@ . . . and I am wondering if it is connected to this custom group I created? The info@ . . . email is not hosted anywhere.

See attached images

Thanks for your help

When you created the custom group info, then the system automatically recognizes info@gulfporttoastmasters.com .

In addition, since the one member groups are public check box is checked in the Email and Contact Forms module, anyone can send to that email address as long as the group only contains one member.

info@... is a pretty common email address, so if you want to use this as a publicly accessible email address, you should familiarize yourself with the enhanced email security features (e.g., black list) in the Email and Contact Forms module. The system will still spam check the emails with SpamAssassin, but it is not perfect on what is considered spam vs not spam.

At this time, I am not putting the "is this spam" link into the emails for publicly accessible custom groups, so you will need to determine the reply to setting for that email to know who to black list.
