Emails to Group was created by jerrytex49
When someone sends an email to the group, in my case (members-3407@toastmastersclubs.org), and it hits my Inbox, the From: line in the email has my name/email address. Should it not be from the person who sent it? Do I/we have a wrong setting somewhere? It has been doing this for the past 6 months or so.

depends on the settings you have selected and for which list.

Look in the admin console under email settings.

This is likely a display name caching issue with your email provider. To fix, create a contact list entry in your email client/webmail with the server address as the email address... that should do it.

We do put the senders display name in the outgoing mail--thus, while the actual email address is the same, the display name varies. The problem is that not every email client maintains that... some toss the display name out and use the first display name found in your inbox associated with the email address.

The contact list fix will force it to use one display name, but of course, you will lose the display name that we originally put in the outgoing email.

I checked the email settings in the Admin console. Three of the fields are associated with where replies are sent to. They are all set to sender. Where is says "From Address Format for Emails Forwarded by FreeToastHost" it is set to the Default of Club First, Name Last. I did not see a field to specify which Name to use.

In my email client (Thunderbird on my computer, Yahoo on the web which I rarely use) I have my club's email address in my contact list, i.e. members-3407@toastmastersclubs.org is in my contact directory as Balcones Toastmasters.

I am still receiving emails from the server sent by another member showing me as the sender. How can I determine if my email provider has a caching issue?

Please take a look at the following: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/display-nam...ist-and-message-pane

This is not something that is easily fixable. The only workaround is creating a contact list entry as previously noted.

The fundamental issue with all these email clients that do this is that they presume that the display name never changes for a given email address and they just look for the first occurrence of the relevant email address in your inbox to determine the display name (oldest occurrence).

However, FreeToastHost is regularly changing the display name (w/ the server@toastmastersclubs.org address) to show who actually sent an original email. We have to keep the actual email address the same in the From to support easy exceptions for spam filtering.
