I just placed an animated GIF on our club website. Unlike posting on social media, on our website, it's playing very jerky and fast. Is there anything I can do?

All depends on the gif and the size of each image. Once the image is downloaded into your browser cache it is all controlled by your computer and not by the server.

Thanks, Brian. When I post on Facebook, it plays as it should. Is that controlled by Facebook rather than my computer? I wonder if because I resized it for my FTH page it may be the reason it is play jerky, etc.?

No, gifs are played by your browser from your browser cache.
Resizing makes the images smaller and faster to load.
Where is the Gif?

Brian, I fixed it. I went back and resized the GIF in Canva to what I needed for our website. Then I uploaded it and that worked; it's playing normally now. FTH didn't like me resizing a GIF. I am using the GIF on our website home page oregononline.toastmastersclubs.org/

Very nice GIF! It is unfortunate that it is below the fold, though...
