add facebook and linked in icons on members page

Why would you add facebook and linked in icons on member's page?
It looked nice on someone else's page when iI was browsing today.

is it recommended that we do this? also I noticed about 10-12 icons that we have access to in the Administrators FAQ area? if we used all of these icons on our websites would we get more visibility, How hard is it to maintain adding them? Then would our visibility on Facebook go up existentially!

I'm not quite sure which area you are referring to. Members can post a profile and choose to make that profile either public or only viewable to other members.

Below is a screenshot of my profile. I chose to make mine public and added several social media properties I participate on.

I figure if a visitor would like to communicate with one member to ask a 'private' question I want to make myself as available to them as possible.

Yes I noticed that some members on our website had the little icon under their membership directory page .I wondered how I can do the same thing as the VPPR for my page.? As webmaster it would be a helpful thing to know, especially if another member would want to add it to theirs.?. I would have the information at my fingertips.Any suggestions???

if you look on the webpage you will see Main Menu on the upper left column for the public to click on the members who want to be seen my the public. Below that column you will see a columns labeled Members only directory that is private. It cannot be seen by the public. This is what I was trying to communicate above. Individual members have collected the icons by their names in our directory I wanted to see how to add that to others or mine name . I thought it was a good way to bring visibility to our website.
