Hello,

I finally put a Sunday afternoon aside to make these changes, and I have done so. I setup the 3 A records and the MX record.

Now my website is down. There is no response to SummitToastmasters.com.

In 2.1, it tells me to go to the FreeToastHost admin console. Is this the console on my site, or on the main FreeToastHost site? If it's on my site, I can't reach it?

Perhaps it's just a matter of waiting. I have checked the records numerous times. Any thoughts?

Here are my DNS entries

viewdns.info/dnsrecord/?domain=www.summittoastmasters.com

I see the MX record, but not the A records.

I do not see the A records being broadcast from the registrar DNS.

You need to contact your registrar support to find out what is happening.

Yes, I noticed that too. The MX record showed up almost immediately, but not the A records. Odd.

Brian,

When I add the A records to my DNS entry, should I turn off domain forwarding? This would be appear to be taken care of by the A records.

Currently, we have mydiscountdomains forwarding to 1781.toastmastersclubs.org.

You cannot have dns zone and domain forwarding active the same time.

You need to remove domain forwarding.

Kevin,

As Brian notes you cannot do the forwarding... it will interfere with the proper handling of your custom domain.

Also, note that even before you have your custom domain set up (and afterwards), you will still be able to access your website via the nnnnn.toastmastersclubs.org method, where nnnnn is your club number or a website alias.

The point is that when you create a custom domain access method, you are actually adding a new alternative method of accessing your website, in *addition* to the existing methods. This is important in case your club has trouble with the custom domain or if your club forgets to renew it with your registrar.

I always recommend that the old club number method be what is inserted in Find A Club and other external references to your website, in case your club forgets to renew the custom domain. Basically, just use the custom domain for the convenience of your members.
