When I try to log in, I push the log-in/authenticate button and then nothing happens. Some members of the club do not have this issue while others have this issue.

I am still having an issue, and now I am hearing reports from the rest of my team that they are also having issues. Most of us work from the same location. I will check at home to see if it is a firewall issue. But what could be causing this?

You need to ask your IT group .....
If you are using from work are your installs of Internet Explorer 8 up to latest patch levels and is your java up to date?
Does your company allow Java scripts to be run in IE8?
Does your company use any desktop security software that would prevent Java scripts?
