For several months now our members have been unable to edit their roles in the agenda. For example, the Toastmaster used to be able to go in and edit his role and put the Theme of the Day in. The Grammarian, likewise, could edit and enter the WOD. Now, members can only confirm their roles. Only the administrators can edit the entire agenda. None of us can figure out how and why it was changed. We have selected and de- selected every box we can think of and nothing works.
The image is what the agenda looks like when a 'regular' member is logged in. There is not edit pencil. How can we fix this problem?

Thank You,
Debra Kroon, DTM

There is an option "The person assigned to this role can edit this meeting agenda" linked to each role.
It needs to be checked on for the appropriate roles. This can be set by the admin or any officer with editing rights. It can be set for each dated agenda / role, but once it is set in a template it will propagate to any new agendas created from that template.

Thank you for your response. I have checked all those boxes. I went back in, just now and did that. Nothing worked. It still will not allow members to edit the agenda except to confirm their roles. They cannot add their speech info, etc. We do not get an edit pencil. Very frustrating. Thank you again for any assistance.

Where have you checked the boxes? I don't see any pencil icons on your 27 Nov agenda or the following one.

Your "2018-19 agenda template" has editing rights assigned to some of the roles. You'll have to create new dated agendas using that template for those editing rights to become effective.
Any existing agendas will not be changed unless you edit them individually.

Thank you. This is part of my frustration. I went into the Nov 27 agenda and checked everyone of those boxes. I went into the template and checked everyone of those boxes. I do not know if there is an update that we failed to install or what?
What I believe I understand you to say is now we need to create a totally new template - check all the boxes and go from there forward. Is that correct?
Again, many thanks for your willingness to help me resolve this frustration.

Alright... jumping in here...

1) Make sure that you understand that you can create new agendas from past dated agendas, as well as named agenda templates (multiple types of sources). If you set the editing checkbox on one but are still creating agendas from the other, it will not make a difference. You need to make sure that whatever you are using as the *source* for creating new agendas has the edit check boxes set correctly in order to be carried forward correctly.

2) Also the named agenda templates are *not* linked to any dated agendas that you create from them, so any changes you make to named agenda templates are only used in any future agendas created from them. The creation step is just a copy of whatever is in the named agenda template or past dated agenda used as a data source, so there is no linkage.

3) We refer to agenda "templates" as the *named* agendas that are used for creating new agendas--agenda templates are not referred to by a date. This is a key distinction that agenda templates are the ones that have *names*, not dates. I only mention this, because it seems that many users get this confused, and mention one in forum posts when they actually mean the other.

4) You should not need to create a new template. Just find out what sources you are using to make new agendas and edit those to fix the checkboxes. The key thing is to make sure you can account for all the ways that new agendas are being created. If you have multiple people creating new agendas (I do not recommend that), you may need to ask around.

Thank you Steve - I will take a look at all the templates and see where in the problems lies.
