Hi

I changed my website Alias at admin console, by replacing the club name instead of the club number yesterday. But it didn't work. I did it again and check again. It didn't work again. I am not sure if my steps are correct. My website is:

3230209.toastmastersclubs.org/

It would be great, if it can be changed to:
ocean.toastmastersclubs.org/

Many thanks for your attention.

Regards
Mandy

It does work... This is your site now: oceantoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

Either one will work...

I recommend that you change your alias from "oceantoastmasters" to "ocean". That way your URL will be ocean.toastmastersclubs.org. rather then the less intuitive and much longer oceantoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org

Thank you Pam and Linda, your suggestion are great.

Linda,

whenever I type the URL of oceantoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/ or ocean.toastmastersclubs.org/ the browser just go straight to the HOME page of Free Toast Host 2.0 (www.toastmastersclubs.org/welcome/)

Did I miss any set up?

Pam,
I think I had set the Alias as Ocean instead?

Your alias now shows as "Ocean". ocean.toastmastersclubs.org should work, but I see what you mean, it is still going to theFTH2 page. It might take a little while for the search engines to catch up, but typing the full url isn't working either. Strange - I don't think you've missed anything. I'll pass it up the ladder. Please don't change your settings unless someone here asks you to.

Make sure that you're not including "www". That's a fairly common mistake which will redirect you to the FTH Home page.

If you try from another computer that hasn't accessed the site from a different address you will be able to access your site using the Ocean alias.

I'm using IE11. Here is the trick (well - it worked for me) if you are using IE11 (maybe other versions as well). You have to clear your cache, but you also have to make sure that "Preserve Favorites Website Data" is not checked (by default it is checked)

Go to Internet options / General Tab - Browsing History / Delete button
"Preserve Favorites Website Data" MUST NOT be checked
"Temporary Internet Files", "Cookies" & "History" MUST be checked
I left the rest off - they shouldn't matter either way.

Having done that, I can now access your site using the club number or the alias - so hopefully your members won't have the same problem that you and I had.

Good luck!

Just remember that your browser tries to cache (save) everything for you to speed up accessing the internet. Usually this is a good thing, but when making changes, sometimes it can be a pain.

It works! Thank you very much, our club finally has a new website, I am more than happy to promote this platform to members in my division.
