I have a general question about logging in.

I am a new VPE. When I log in to our club website as myself it seems that I have the same editing privileges as when I Iogin as site admin, ie member management, creating new custom web pages, etc...? Is it the same? If not what is the difference?

IE is every officer automatically an admin?

1) make sure you are logged out as the admin then check if you still have the same privileges.

2) the member userid and the admin userid are complete separate

3) the admin can delegate some access to others please read the docs on this site.

Yes I am logged out as admin. But I am an officer. I am also the designated admin for the website. So maybe that is why?

But what I am asking is, do the other officers, ie the VPM, President, Secretary and Treasurer have the same rights on the website? IE can they add members and guests, send welcome emails, create custom pages and the like?

Or are those features only specifically for Admin Access? IE where you have to click on the button that says "login as site admin" Just trying to understand.

The member login and the admin login are different and separate.

However, in the last update we added the ability to have selected types of admin console functions made available to club officers. There is a configuration setting for this in the Access Settings tab in the Admin Console. This may be set up for your officer role, and it may appear that there is no difference for you. However, I am betting that there is.

However, keep in mind that if you are also logged in as the admin, that access takes precedence over much of your member access permissions.

Think i get it now, just reading up on that link Brian posted. This is a great forum! You guys are ON IT! Thanks!

I have a few other questions too as a brand new VPE, I'll post separate threads. (after a search to see if the question has been answered before).

So what about the social links? Does the VP of PR automatically have access to those? To change / edit? It's not mentioned in the "Access Settings" Tab in the Admin Console. Or do all officers automatically get to edit those?

Currently, the access Website Settings module cannot be delegated to an officer, since that would also enable access to the Access Settings and Admin Info tabs, which would create a problem, since those are only supposed to be accessible by the admin only. It is really just a coincidence that the Social links are in the same module as the Access Settings and Admin info tabs.

However, I have a workaround for that which will be deployed in the next major system update near the end of the year. (The workaround is working fine in test code.) So, the access to the Website Settings module will be able to be granted to an officer in the next update.
