One of the members of our club received this email that looked official. I did not send it though to him. I did not attach the link from the email to this, only the words. I told the member to delete the email and to not hit the link. Does this look legit in anyway or is this a virus type thing? The words from the email are below.

Click on the link below to access your club website as a member. The site will remember you for a day, as long as you are using the same computer/device and do not clear your cookies. If you wish to access from another computer or device, just reauthenticate, or set a custom password by clicking the link below.

NOTE: if the above URL is wrapping in your e-mail and not fully linked, you can copy and paste the URL (without the <>) in your web browser's address bar.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Thank you and enjoy our club website!

Yes, that is legitimate... member password reset. He probably logged in w/o a password.... he receives the link to get in.

How ironic... I just posted a message to the FTH Ambassadors today saying I was thinking of adding an "Email Pass-phrase" feature in the future as an email security add. This concept, if implemented, would allow you to specify a phrase known only to you (and your club) and the system. The phrase would be appended to emails routed through the system for authentication / email security reasons.

So, if I did add that, you would be able to share the phrase with your club so you would be able to know when emails are authentic. (e.g., "Tri-county Toastmasters is President's Distinguished 5 years in a row!", "Our club mascot is a kangaroo.", or whatever ... just a sample)

Also, you could change the phrase as appropriate with this approach.

Good idea with the phrase. Do you think it's a virus, etc? I know I did not send it, unless the system for some reason sent it and just attaches my name since I'm the admin for Wry Toast #8358. Would the system send it out for any reason? It's definitely not a password reset type email. That is worded totally different. Thanks, Dan
