In my club, we use speech introduction forms to fill out our speech introduction for our meeting Toastmaster. It works very well.

FreeToastHost has a spot for a Speech Introduction, but it has always been blank with no guidance on what members should enter there. However, as clubs operate differently, what clubs consider to be a good speech introduction will vary.

With this in mind, I have implemented a new feature that will allow clubs to create a "Speech Introduction Template". This is basically just some boiler plate text that you can enter per your club guidelines. This boiler plate is inserted as default text to provide guidance when no speech introduction has been entered. (It will not get saved as the actual Introduction unless the save button is clicked.)

Like many of my ideas, some take off, some end up being not so great. Let me know if you find this useful... (I am likely going to start getting rid of unused features in the future.)

The Speech Introduction Template is entered in the Agenda Global Settings. I do have a default system template that I have saved in a file in the server's templates folder. However, currently, I am not inserting that in each website... I want to see what the response to this is first.

Steve on the picture shows that we can enter an attachment?
It seems that I can copy paste something in there, but no attachment option.
What boiler plate text means?
Thank you

Simeonidis:

No the attachment is just indicating that I attached something to my forum post.

Attachments are not intended for a Speech Introduction Template.

"Boiler Plate" means text that you want to show up for every new (previously blank) Speech Introduction as a guideline for producing a good speech template. In other words, what labels and text prompts you want to show to indicate to the speaker what they should include in their speech introduction template. For example:
  • Speaker Short Biography:

  • Project Objectives:

  • Project Introduction:

Keep in mind that there are already spots on the agenda for the Speech Title and the Project Name.

Just seeing this. It seems like a great idea! I'm working with a new club full of brand-new Toastmasters, so this will help them through the learning process of creating a solid introduction. Looking forward to trying this one.
