This is one of the GDPR / privacy updates.

http:// access is no longer supported and it has been disabled.

All website access is now forced to be via https:// to comply with GDPR regulations.

I found a little bug in this. Our site is 3143261.toastmastersclubs.org or lakewilliamswordsmiths.toastmastersclubs.org. We also own the URL lakewilliamswordsmiths.org which until 30 minutes ago just had a permanent redirect to 3143261.toastmastersclubs.org - and that was going through, even after this change. I have now changed that to redirect to 3143261.toastmastersclubs.org - so once the nameservers have updated in an hour or so we will be fully secure again.

I don't know if this is something that you can fix, but thought that you may want to know.

We do not really support redirects on custom domain names... never have.
While you certainly may have been able to get it to work in the past, moving forward, it will be problematic.

You will *not* be able to get a free SSL cert provided by us for a custom domain name if you use a redirect.
You need to set up the custom domain name per our documentation.

This is not a bug, this is per design, and we have explained this a *bunch* of times in these forums.

I had not seen that redirects are not supported, but now have read some of the entries here. We have had a redirect for several years and it mainly works. However, now I would like to correctly set up a custom domain. Our URL is maintained by GoDaddy. I saw references to specific GoDaddy instructions, but the links that I saw no longer work. Is there a document for our registrar?

Tim, the basic information for setting custom domains per our guidelines is the following:
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/dns-settings-overview

We used to have registrar-specific guidelines, but it just because too difficult to keep the ones we had up to date, so we decided to "acknowledge defeat" on that and we no longer have guidelines for specific registrars.

In any case, you should find that the GoDaddy customer service is helpful if you provide them the info in the doc. Also, we can help.
