Do we have to have this come up every time we open our website? I really hate all this privacy stuff.

I'm having the same problem. I can click the "accept" button and the message goes away for a while but it will come back again after a certain amount of time. (I haven't yet determined exactly how much.) It can even appear if I'm already logged in and returning to a site; the site "remembers" that I'm logged in, but not that I've accepted cookies.

Following up on this... I had made some adjustments a few days ago... are you still seeing these pop-ups on your websites?

I saw one a couple of hours ago. It was in a different browser from my usual one, but I'd accepted the cookies two or three days ago.

In the interim, I'd had to reboot my router and would have acquired a new IP address as a result.

Today I logged in to a club website at about 1200 (local time). The big yellow Cookie Monster appeared and I accepted cookies.
Two hours later I opened up my laptop again. I was still logged in to the club website but the big yellow Cookie Monster reappeared. This is despite accepting cookies numerous times for a range of different club websites. Even more annoying is that the big yellow Cookie Monster appears when I visit a club website that I am not a member of but just want to look at.
There is also an issue with my laptop "forgetting" my login credentials for the numerous club websites I am a member of, since this new functionality was implemented.

Is it really necessary for this cookie munching? I understand the privacy issues (opt-in/opt-out etc) but do cookies actually impinge on privacy settings?

Thoughts welcome

Cookies are specifically called out in new regulations.... so yes, we have to do this.

If you are also having issues with logins, it is very likely that you also do not have your cookies configured correctly for FTH websites.

That will impact a lot.
