At the bottom of the agenda email window there is a drop down list of email variables that can be inserted. When I choose one of them, the item stays for a second then defaults back to the original text. It says I can paste these into my email, but how are they copied to the clipboard? In Send Basic Email, these have to be typed in manually so this idea is a time saver.

When you select one of them, they are put on the clipboard for you by the code. All you have to do is use Cmd/Ctrl-V to put them in the message where you want them. The Cmd/Ctrl-V requirement is not my requirement, per se,... it is a result of how browsers work work with clipboard operations.

The problem with this, of course, is that this requires a keyboard to do the Cmd/Ctrl-V... this will not work on a phone, for example. (I doubt that the phone browser paste will work.) This is the current sticking point for me on this.

I've tried Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Chrome is the only one that works this magic. I use a Mac in case that is important.

Yes, that does not surprise me... that is why the web page variables are accessed via a pop-up that I specifically designed to allow users to copy and paste manually from if need be.

Clipboard automation support is inconsistent across browsers. I wish the drop-down approach was more reliable across browsers.

If the menu stayed open so that a variable could be selected, copying would work in all browsers, but it closes within a second of selecting one.

Actually, you cannot copy from a drop-down like that... I already tested it.

I am probably going to overlay an input box over top of the select to allow manual copy/paste. (e.g. you select from list, then javascript plugs the selection in the input box to allow manual copy/paste)
