Now that the we've had time to assess the opt-in requirement, here is some info from my club.
The problem now with FTH is the opt-in feature. All new members have to opt-in before they can receive any communication from the FTH website. Communication such as Welcome letter, agenda, dues notices etc.

The opt-in email that is generated when you add a member or guest is very generic and new members/guests ignore it because it looks like spam.

I suggest instead of opt-in, it should be change to opt-out so the members have a choice to opt-out if they don't want to be contacted, but at least they will receive a more legitimate looking first email notification coming from the club instead of FTH.

Every new member that joined my club said they ignore the email because they thought it was spam.

The club just sent out the renewal dues notices and the members that did not opt-in would not receive the notice, they don't even receive the weekly agenda. Frustrating!

If the prospective decides that they don't want to allow their name, email or communication from your club website that is their choice and you must respect it. You will have to had them paper invoices at the club meeting, and talk with them at club meetings.

When you add a person to the website you must tell them to expect the opt-in email, if you are not doing this you are not informing the person of what you will be doing with the information they have provided to you.

The responsibility is yours to inform, and their choice to accept or reject.

Thank you,
