Now is the time for club contests with its attendant creating of new contest agendas! When I try to edit a current agenda for improvement and save it on top of a previously named meeting agenda template (as is indicated as a possibility when saving agenda templates), the whole template disappears from the meeting menu choice of agendas. I had to go back and resave the meeting agenda under "new agenda" and rename it 'Humorous Speech Contest" Thus, one is unable to make corrections to meeting templates by saving corrections made from the meeting agenda tab (the usual way one would do it.) Currently to accomplish this end, one must remember the changes needed, call up the template from the Administrator menu and make the changes to a meeting agenda temple that way. Can this be improved/fixed?

I'm not quite sure that I understand your problem. To try to explain - Templates are "named agendas". They are slightly easier to edit as you can change the role descriptions. If you have a good agenda that you want to keep for future use, you can create a template from that agenda.

Make sure you give any new template a new name, otherwise it could overwrite an existing template (in which case you'll have to find an earlier agenda and re-create the template).

Any agenda can be saved as a template. Once the template has been saved, new agendas can be created from any of your templates.

If you have made changes to an agenda that was created from a "bad" template, you can replace the template with the new agenda.

Edits made to agendas won't affect the templates and edits to templates won't affect the agendas. Once you have saved an agenda or a template, any changes will only affect that specific instance, or any created in the future using that as a base.

Hi Pam, Thanks for your quick reply. I’m sorry my vocabulary is not the same as yours. Yes, I am talking about “Named agendas” What I am saying is that I have been unable to overwrite an existing named agenda from the meeting agenda tab for the past several months. The named agenda that I am attempting to overwrite disappears completely when I try to overwrite it from the meeting agenda tab (not administrator menu). The way I have been correcting this (after checking to see that the overwrite wasn’t accomplished and the named agenda disappeared completely) is to use “Create a new agenda” and recreate the missing named agenda with the updates/corrections previously attempted. If others don’t check to make sure their overwrite went through, they may have lost the named agenda completely that they were trying to update with changes. I hope you can correct this hiccup.

Thanks,

I see what you mean. I'll let our developer know. He is rather tied up at the moment, but he'll get to it when he has an opportunity.

Your workaround is a good one, or you could just create a new template and then delete the original. I get your point about the possibility of losing templates which you would assume had been saved.

This issue should now be fixed. Could you please confirm it is working as intended?
