Is there a way to set up folders for files so that like items or dated material could be consolidated? I want the most recent files to show up at the top of the list but that's not even working. File folders would be a big improvement. Guidelines for file-naming that would sequence files would also be a great improvement. Any tips welcome.

Please refer to the "organising files in folders" section of this document: support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/file-management

Files are sorted in ascending alphabetical or numerical order. If you start dated file names with the date (format yymmdd) they will be sequenced correctly, but oldest will be at the top.
