As the newly installed VPPR I have been getting our club setup on FreeToastHost and getting familiar with the tools.

Our club rotates between two meeting places, so keeping members aware of which building is important.
I was able to put the location in the agenda header or as a note, but guests cannot view the agenda directly.
Instead I made a custom page and used the Web Site variables to pull back date and toastmaster of the day.

Is there a "meeting location" web site variable I can set in the agenda that will pull over to our meeting info page?

Sorry, we do not currently have a web page variable for the meeting location. It is a good idea, though, so I will move this post to our Improvement Suggestions forum section for further consideration and comment.

Keep in mind that web page variables only can fetch information that is entered elsewhere, and we do not currently have a way to indicate meeting location on a per meeting basis that could be retrieved via a web page variable. Because of that, adding the variable would be a bit more involved than you may expect.

jgraham:
I agree with LindaMann about having it on the home page. My club also lists our current week and next week locations as an agenda item. This might be worth considering. When setting a new agenda it just includes a "Location to be determined" note and then the VPE can make the update. See the attached image.

Under agenda setup, I see the following "helpful" text

Enter the meeting venue address here if you wish to store this with the meeting information. This is useful if you meet at different venues for each meeting, as you can show the meeting location and a Google Map for the next meeting on your Meeting Info/Directions page using Webpage Variables.

However, when I go to Meeting Info/Directions to edit the page, there isn't a variable for the next meeting venue address.

Was this just omitted from the pick list of variables? If so, what is the text to use? (I already tried {{nextmeetingaddress}} and {{nextmeetingvenue}} with no success) Or, is the help text inaccurate that there now is a webpage variable assigned to the text we put in that box?

Assuming there is a variable, what are we supposed to do to use that information to generate a map on Meeting Info/Directions page? My preference would be for there to be a new checkbox added indicating that the map be generated based upon the agenda venue data and then deactivate the Google Maps Address / Iframe box if the checkbox is checked.

I noticed that some Google Maps Address / Iframe box contents does not generate a map as expected, namely if the the address has a suite number. We hold our meeting in a restaurant in a strip mall; the full address we get from Google maps for the restaurant is "804 S Friendswood Dr #100, Friendswood, TX 77546", but this does not produce a map. If we change the box to contain "804 S Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546" a map is generated.

Finally, I also noted that the Google Maps Address / Iframe box contents can sometimes be loaded with a venue name and generate a map. So, we can put in the box "Friendswood Public Library" (our nominal location) and get a map that has both the venue name and address shown! This is a great feature, so, kudos... However, this does not always work. Probably not a coincidence, the restaurant that we can't list the full address also cannot be referred to by it's name, "Jado'z Grill House". Maybe this will work when you figure out why the "#100" on the associated address disabled the map.
