Is there a way to have a reminder sent out for calendar events automatically?
Thanks!

No 5here is no way for the calendar to send out automated reminders. We do not want FTH generating spam.
The VPED or Toastmaster of the Day should be sending those out as part if their responsibilities.

Brian,

Thanks for the generous responses and time on this site. It seems like having authentic emails and the privacy of the members is important to you and this forum.

Is it ridiculous to allow some sort of server side scripting (I searched but did not find) that creates an email based on the needs for the upcoming week:

++++++
Hi All,

We need [ $grammiarian, $ah-counter] this week

++++++

and then the Toastmaster can manually send this? For clubs that meek 1x/week this would be a significant help.

Thanks!

Why do that when you can email the agenda and the members can click on the link in the email and sign up. So much easier for everyone

Sorry no that will not happen that would create too many emails that many would mark as spam.

Even today we get club officers marking club emails as spam instead of just deleting them.

Just to support Brian and emphasize we are in alignment, .... No fully automated emails set up by users... Not happening.... Will never happen... We will not support it *ever*... end of story. No if, ands , or buts.
**** Not happening. ***

The closest we will ever get is "semi-automated" which is what I consider the agenda email to be. You still have to initiate the email before each meeting, but the system takes it from there and does the automated "magic".

Semi-automated is often OK (still requires some initiation by the user) but fully-automated... no way.

Hi Steve - so you're saying there's a chance :) ?

I do admire your strong opinion - you've articulated the point. It seems you are 100% against automated emails and the concerns of marking email as spam are too high, but semi automated (as is today) is acceptable.

I get it - I've been a sysadmin and defending the systems in paramount.

Thanks for reading this far.

Best Regards
John
