Thank you for implementing the long-awaited sign-up sheet.

However, you might want to know that sometimes between yesterday evening 17:00 PDT and tonight 20:00 PDT what you now call "legacy" XLS download broke.

(Sadly for us we built our own sign-up sheet mechanism on the excel export after we had lost the ability with the FTH2 migration. That mechanism now broke. I will work around the sudden breakage while we are retraining people to use the official sign-up sheet.)

Specifically, your webserver is now responding with a bogus value in the Content-Length response header field:

**** Request ****

GET /index.cgi?action=xlsagenda HTTP/1.0
Host: www.promasters.org
Cookie: membersessionid=XXXXXXXXXX

**** Response ****

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Thu, 02 Aug 2012 03:35:59 GMT
Server: Apache/2.2.22 (Amazon)
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signupsheet.xls"
Content-length: -s /pvmd/g1/4512/signupsheet.xls
Vary: Accept-Encoding
Connection: close
Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel; charset=ISO-8859-1

I Just downloaded your report here. and it worked.

Good for you, Brian, but the response from your server still is malformed HTTP in the case that I reported.

When a browser requests the XLS with HTTP/1.1 and Accept-Encoding: gzip and all, it gets a well-formed response.

It is the automated HTTP/1.0 request that gets a malformed response, as I reported.

We worked around it on our side, so as far as we are concerned here, this is not a problem for us.

Thanks!

JH2 please try it again and let us know if you are still seeing the error.

You fixed it. The response looks valid now:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Fri, 03 Aug 2012 03:42:23 GMT
Server: Apache/2.2.22 (Amazon)
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signupsheet.xls"
Content-length: 6144
Vary: Accept-Encoding
Connection: close
Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel; charset=ISO-8859-1

If you are please tell us what browser version you are using.

The browser had nothing to do with this, it was a programmatic call.
