When I send an email to our members, it arrives with the following text in the "From" field:

"Toastmasters Club 3506 on behalf of Willie Taylor"

Where/how do I edit this?

Thanks!

Just so that we are not presuming something that we should not be presuming here, let me check something out here...

JMO3506, I looked at your website. Based on your "Meet Our Members" page and the "JMO..." initials, I would deduce that you are the VPPR, correct? Also, Willie Taylor is the website admin, correct?

So... are you saying that you are sending an email to the membership, but the email is received as if it was sent by the website admin (different person)??? If that is the case, then you need to give us some specifics of exactly what email address you are using for the To address and you need to tell us exactly how you are sending the email to the membership. (also, what email...agendas?)

If I am totally overreaching here, then I apologize... it has been a long day. ;-)

Thanks, Steve. I see I should have been more detailed in my description of the problem.

I am the VPPR and site admin until my term concludes June 30, at which time the next VPPR will take over as site admin.

I suppose Willie Taylor was admin at one time—maybe when we set the site up originally?

The "To" in question is: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The Toastmaster (a different member each week) uses it to send the agenda. I use it to send announcements, e.g., updated content. The President uses it for leadership blasts, etc.

I have two email addresses associated with my profile: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (primary) and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (secondary).

I would like to remove Willie Taylor's name from the "From" line.

Thanks!

1) to change who the admin is submit a change request.
www.toastmastersclubs.org/change/

2) the email address that sends the email to the list identifies who the email is from, the email address is matched with the name in the Members Management box.

3) if you are emailing the agenda the person who is logged in is identified as having sent the agenda.

I just send a test email from you and I can see the correct From:

From: "Toastmasters Club 3506 on behalf of John Michael O'Leary, DTM"

Brian,

I submitted the admin change request and received notice that it had been completed.
However, it appears now that every message is from Willie Taylor.

John,

What browser/browser version are you using? When you send the emails you reference are you sending them from an email client (which one) using the members@... email address? Or are you sending them from within the website? (e.g., emailing an agenda to the membership from within the website)

You may also want to reset your browser cache and check your cookie settings:

Your suggestion to look at the Internet email headers helped me figure it out.

The problem was in Thunderbird. It had created a contact for the old admin and was defaulting it into the From line.

I deleted the contact from the address book and that seems to have solved the issue.

Thanks for your patience with me. I am a newbie.
