A domain name is usually registered via a domain name registrar such as GoDaddy for a fee. The registration gives your club exclusive use of the domain name for a period of time that you pay for.

Many clubs just use a website alias instead of a domain name. It is free and much easier to set up within your Admin Console.

Regarding the metatag, the following is mentioned in the Admin Console:

use Google's Webmaster Central. When you add this website address ( http:// ... ), you will be asked to verify the site. Choose the alternative method "add meta tag", copy and paste it in here.

Therefore, you need to go to the Webmaster Central website, register your club's website there, and then when you do, the Webmaster Central website will show you the meta tag to copy and paste into your Admin Console.
