Dear Support,
My club (#9098) recently changed its name from Callaway Toastmasters to Beach & Business Toastmasters. As a result, I updated the DNS information for our web site through register.com to reflect our new URL: bbtoastmasters.org. I set it to direct to IP address 50.19.253.65. I also set our previous URL, callawaytoastmasters.org, to forward to bbtoastmasters.org. When I type in either bbtoastmasters.org or callawaytoastmasters.org now, my browser directs me to www.toastmastersclubs.org/welcome.

Can you please advise what I need to do to get our club site working properly? I know it can take 12-24 hours for DNS changes to take effect. Do I just need to give it more time? I made these updates about an hour ago.

Best Regards, Kris Guy

Brian is our resident expert on the DNS stuff, but I know he will direct you to review the info in the following doc, so I will start with posting it: support.toastmastersclubs.org/domain-set...g-your-registrar-dns

You have to make sure that all of the settings referenced in the above doc are set correctly for the new domain name. It is *not* just a matter of getting people directed to the new website. FTH2 also handles email lists, also (e.g., members@) and that is affected if you do not get the DNS settings correct for the new domain name. Therefore, please pay close attention to what is in the doc and perhaps call the registrar's customer support to assist you, if needed. (you could email them the doc to help)

You also need to update the custom domain name setting in the Admin Console... (1st field on 1st page of Admin Console).

Dear Steve and Brian,
Thank you for your comments. In regard to the IP address, is 50.19.253.65 or 216.21.239.197 the correct one? I see that the instructions state to use the former, but in looking at my register.com account from which I purchased the domain name, the latter is what I had been using (and what was working) before I attempted to update the DNS info.

Can you please confirm which address I should use?

Much thanks, Kris

PS: I also have a message in to register.com about this, and am waiting to hear from them.
