I have to verify my website on Google Webmaster. How do I add a meta tag, and upload an HTML file to my website? How do I add a Google Analytics code, and last and most important, how do I copy and paste?

You realize that stuff is optional, correct?

When you register your website via Google Webmaster tools, the Google Webmaster tools website displays the meta tag that you copy from that website and then paste into the related field near the bottom of the Admin Console first page.

When you register your website on the Google Analytics website, the code will be displayed... you copy it and paste it back in the related field near the bottom of the Admin Console first page.

BTW, I looked at your admin console.

You may want to consider changing the website alias from wwwsugartowntmorg to just sugartowntm

If you don't, your members will have to type wwwsugartowntmorg.toastmastersclubs.org to get to your website. (long)

If you just use sugartowntm, they would type sugartowntm.toastmastersclubs.org to get to your website. (shorter)

Your members can also use 6928.toastmastersclubs.org to get to your website.

Sorry, I'm not very computer literate. So I can launch my website without having to verify it? And, thanks, I'll definitely shorten the name.

Yes. All the Google Webmaster and Google Analytics tools do for you is to provide some optional tracking tools to help you basically determine who is visiting your website (e.g., members or not), how often, and which pages on your website. (There are a few other things they can do for you also, but those things are the basics.)

Again, though, you are already launched. If I can reach your website, than your members can, also.

Ian, here are a few suggestions to get you going in the right direction with your club website:

1. Work on getting something on your home page that is specific to your club. (Get rid of the default picture there.) Many clubs put a group picture on their home page... As Brian will note, a picture with some descriptive text about your club is better.

2. Work on getting some information about your meetings (when and where) on your Meeting Information/Directions page. You can also have Google Maps put a map to your meeting location on that page. (nice feature) I generally recommend putting a picture of the meeting location from outside (e.g., the street) there, also, to make it easy for meeting guests to find your club meetings.

3. Work on setting up 1, 2, or 3 of your members/officers as club contacts--they will get the emails when someone contacts the club via the Contact Us form.

4. In the future, I would recommend that you get familiar with the built in meeting agendas features, but not yet. For now, you can just double click on any date on the Club Calendar to add a meeting on it. It also lets you put repeating events there.

5. Realize that there is a great deal of good documentation on this support website to draw upon. The key is learning the search features on this website. You can search the forum posts and you can search through documents stored on this website--they are two different search features.

#'s 1, 2, & 3 are done via the Admin Console.
