My club has nominated me as VP of PR and as webmaster to take the site "to the next level" by using my own custom JavaScript for slide shows on our club site. Can I upload or use my own code?

You only have access to the html body so your script will have to be inline and you could not use any control files. If you want to host your script somewhere else and iframe it on to your webpage you can do that.

Thank you Brian.

I had kind of answered my own question when perusing the 'Custom Web Page' section of the Admin Console.
So let me just clarify: I can host my own script and club pictures and iFrame it in the HTML.

Also, I noticed the 'Flash' button in the 'Custom Web Page' editor. We want to start using HTML5, Canvas, and custom script for accessibility and viewability of our Toastmasters site on mobile devices. Would you mind pointing out any issues, if any, that I might run into here? Are there other documents that you already have that I may reference in this regard?

Best Regards,
Lew R. Giere

As you don't have access to the head you can not change the page doc type, which will cause you issues. At this time we are not supporting html5 as 40% of the browsers using FTH do not support HTML 5, most of those being corporate or government.

Thanks Brian.

I just needed to know the limitations here and be able to let the other club officers know what is possible.

Lew,

There is actually a lot you can accomplish through widgets that are readily available on the internet, including some for slide shows.

For example, see here for a Slideshare widget: www.slideshare.net/widgets

Here is an example of a FTH2 website incorporating a Flickr slideshow widget: dunedintoastmasters.com/
