Is something missing to have Google find our clubs' website? 11 years 4 months ago #27268

Greetings,

I've been reading/searching all I can about how to get our club website show on Google search results.
I've created an alias from our club number, to now be middayriorancho.toastmastersclubs.org.
I've inserted the Google Webmaster Central Meta Tag that was created after having the site verified by the alternate method.
I've been using Google's Webmaster Tools for the past 3 weeks to "invite" Google bots to crawl and index the site and other links which have come back as "successful".
I realize this process can take some time, but there are no results in 10 pages for various Google search parameters for the club site.

Is there something I'm missing that is preventing the search to show in any results? I can see the Google metatag I copied while viewing the home page source code.

Any suggestions or a word on continued patience is appreciated.

Darryl

Daryl,

Read the documents in this FAQ: support.toastmastersclubs.org/search-engine-optimization

You need to add some pages and copy the meta tags from your home page into the meta tags for them.

The more pages, the more possible hits, etc.

Hi Brian,
I found your point when I searched on the TI site. That's likely been there for years that way. I'll contact TI to get that changed to add the missing "s".

I would hope that Google is not only crawling through the TI site to locate area clubs.

Thanks, Darryl

Thanks Roger. I hadn't come across the 2nd link before in my travels.
The same meta tag that was provided by Google to be included on the home page should be also used for subsequent pages? I'm assuming this would be pages that are available publicly and not Member only pages?

Steve,
Done! I figured this to be a TI Admin. only change. I corrected the dropped "s" Brian mentioned and added the alias. I'll check back on TI "Find a Club" to make sure it updates after some time. I also will make sure our district website is updated.
Lot's to do to be "found" on the Web.

Thanks so much for all the help here.
