I added a Skype button to the home page by adding supplied source code from Skype. The information bars at the bottom of the home page now will not work. I tried removing the added source code without success. Help!!

Along the lines of something I posted in a recent thread, if you are putting a lot of heavy scripting in your page content, you are rolling the dice on whether it will work or not, given how the website is dynamically assembled by the server.

"Your mileage may vary."

I do not want to squelch anyone's creativity, but please proceed carefully.
That includes saving a text file copy (via Notepad or equivalent) of your previous *working* page HTML code obtainable via the editor source view.

Hi Steve,
Ooopps! I thought incorrectly it seems that merely adding some script I would be able to remove it and the page would go back to original. Unfortunately I did not make a copy of the source code before I changed it with the Skype button and while the Skype button works the blue info bars at the bottom of the home page do not. Is it possible to get an original source code and replace the present one? How to proceed from here??
I would get rid of the Skype button if that would help.

Hi Roger,
Thanks, everything works except the blue info bars at the bottom of the home page. I added a Skype call button to the bottom of the source code on the home page thinking that removing it would change all back (it does not). The problem is that the blue info bars at the bottom of the home page will not work.

Did you try clearing your cache? I agree with RogerM... it is working for me in IE10.

I cleared the cache and even rebooted. All I get when I click on any of those bars is a blank screen.
Firefox V 23 (latest) and Windows7

Peter,

Do you have access to a different browser to try it there. I am on an iPad at the moment, so I haven't tried Firefox, but it was fine in Chrome, and works fine in safari for me.

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but why are you plugging all that raw image data into the HTML code instead of just uploading the image to the server and linking to it in the <img> tag? :blink:

Hi Steve,
noted that the Skype has been removed, thanks. I have no technical training in computers and have only recently discovered the appropriate way to upload pix. Do you think I should delete these pix and upload them the correct way to resolve the ímage data? The webpage now works in IE or Firefox

Well, it is working for you, so I am not going to say "don't do that". It is just a bit different way to put an image in the page than we generally tell people to do.
