Ok, try the members list email again from your Novartis email, please. (I changed something in your Admin Console.) Again, just a hunch.

After you do that, please try the following:

1. Send to the members list from your gmail account.

2. Send to the officers list from your gmail account.

Let me know what happens. It would be helpful if you can check if anyone else other than yourself received the emails also.

Tests from my personal email to both email addresses results:
SUCCESS - recieved at my personal gmail account
FAIL - officers email received at Novartis, members email not received at novartis.

Some members are recieving emails, some are not.

I will follow up Again with my IT people. In the mean time, I need alot of chocolate to get me though this. :(

THANK YOU!

Jill,

I agree with Brian, but let me summarize my thinking.

Over the weekend, I discovered that your club did not have *any* of the reply-to settings set in your Admin Console (bottom of first page). I have been tweaking those settings and asking you to resend test emails to see if any of them would let email pass through what I suspect is a company spam filter issue. Check out the passage about Reply-To addresses in the following to see why I think this: www.takeabreak.com.au/filterproof.htm

I have a hunch that if you set the members list Reply-to and the officers list Reply-to so that it explicitly includes the sender's email address, then I think your company spam filters might let those emails pass. That is how I have currently set them. However, there is no such setting for the agenda Reply-To setting. Hence, I think all agenda emails are getting caught in the company spam filters.

Keep in mind that there are both outgoing and incoming spam filters. You need to talk to your IT as Brian is pointing to so that you can better understand what will get filtered out or rejected. Spam filtering is frequently done on a scoring basis, and there may also be other factors that are increasing your score and odds of being filtered out. Also, I suggest asking them what happens if there is a blank Reply-To email address or if the Reply-To email address is set differently than the Sender's email address.

If you cannot get your IT to let your club emails pass through, your club may have to resort to using strictly personal emails for all club business and emails.

For now, if you want to send out an agenda, you can try printing it to a PDF and emailing it as an attachment to the members list as a workaround.

I just followed up with my IT people and they are saying that your servers have something called: Joomla 1.0 there is a mambot called "email cloaking". Is this a new thing on your end?

Copy and paste from an email on my end:
In Joomla 1.0 there is a mambot called "email cloaking" that if enabled, takes all email addresses and obscures them by wrapping them in javascript. When you view an email address you are actually looking at the output from that javascript being executed. Try clicking on it and you will see that you don't get the actual email address text even though the email link is displayed.

If you are viewing on a device that does not have javascript then it will display the message: "This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it".

A quick check showed that less than 5% of all users have javascript-disabled browsers so only a minority of visitors should see this message dependant I suppose, upon who you built the site for.

Our Toastmaster for our upcoming meeting tried to send an email today from the agenda page and it didnt come through to the Novartis email, or my personal email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). This is beyond frustrating. Our club has suffered because of this.

Brian,
Are you able to talk to my IT contact directly over the phone? If so, what number can I have Bill Hennessy call you?

Thanks!

When talking to your IT folks, please be very careful if you send any ***forum post related emails*** to them.

The Kunena Forums that we use for *support purposes* only *are* Joomla based, and you *will* see that "protected from spambots" message in emails from the Kunena *forum software*.

If you forwarded any of the forum related emails to them as information and backup, it is possible that they would get confused and get the wrong idea. Those are *not* the agenda emails or members list emails in question. The two are not related.

I concur with Brian completely... there is *no* Joomla used in the FreeToastHost 2 code. I would know if there was.

Adding to my last post... I just looked and I see that the forum generated emails come from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ... so yes, if your IT spam filter is are looking for emails from @toastmastersclubs.org (in general), then yes it might get confused and lump the forum generated emails in with the other emails that also come from @toastmastersclubs.org

Therefore, I believe that the only emails that would have the "protected from spambots" text in them would be those from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. which are the support forum generated emails.

Brian can correct me on that, but I am guessing that is the case. If your IT wants to block the specific This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. address, then I think that is fine as long as you do not mind not getting the support forum related emails.
