I was advised by one of our members that he is not able to see our schedule for October (It is located only to be seen by Members) I try to do it myself as a member and can't do it either, I can do it only as an Administrator. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Aida,

What browser are you and the member using?

Check the documents for clearing cache and cookie settings to see if that helps.

I am sure I used Mozilla Firefox browser, because many times server suggests to use it. I tested again after I cleaned cache. When I entered as a Member, everything else I wanted to see worked, except, Schedule for October, it goes to home page instead. What a headache.

Aida,

Fixed. When you enter the web page name, do not leave spaces. I changed SCHEDULE FOR OCTOBER to Schedule_For_October

Hmmm... The system should have flagged the spaces as an error and not allowed it...

The strange thing is that I have been posting the schedule since the old and new FreeToastHost started at least 7 or 8 years ago, and it has always worked until now, as I understand, now I can't leave any spaces between words? Thank you again for helping. Is this new?

For *some* things you cannot. For the name of a page that shows up in the browser address box, you cannot put spaces in that. You can use underscores instead. This is nothing new, it is the way it works for every web page.

As far as why it did not work not when it worked before, it all depends a lot on what else is in the vicinity of the page name on the page that the FreeToastHost server computer assembles for you on the fly. Sorry for getting technical, but every web page for yours and every other club using FreeToastHost is pieced together from all the different parts and then displayed as if it was always one part. (It is a bit of server software magic that goes on in the background.) It might be that the way the parts were put together in the past was not a problem for your browser, but this time perhaps your browser did not like the result of the "sum of the parts" with the spaces in it.

I need to look at the software code that is supposed to prevent people from doing things that will not work.

If I was 17 I would definitely try to learn everything I could about computers! But I am 77!! I am so proud of myself because at least I try, and have been able to help our Clubs and others with the Website. I am so happy that there are a lot of people like you who help us seniors to understand our problems and help us!! A big THANK YOU to all of you. I tested the Website and is fine now.

Aida,

I looked at your Meeting directions page, also. It looks like you got the whole Google Maps page pulled in there. I am not sure if that is what you intended or if you actually just wanted the map alone. There is a simple tweak we can show you how to do if you just want the Google Map by itself (instead of the whole Google Maps page).

It is not a mess. I am just talking about a minor tweak.

You can just do one of two things:

Either just type the address of your meeting space in the Google Maps box in the Admin Console (this is a new enhancement) and click save

OR

You can click on the chain link button in your current Map page that is showing on your Meeting Directions page... Copy the code that shows there that starts with <iframe and paste it into the Google Maps box.

The first approach is simpler, but the second one gives you more control over the zoom level and size of the map that is produced.

I followed instructions, I want to know if I did it right. I even changed the height to 650. (Note: We recommend altering Google's default 350 height to 650 for better viewing) I hope I did it right. Thank you.

It really depends on what you want... what is "right" is kind of relative to your intentions.

If you just want the map only instead of the whole Google Maps page, then look here:

I tried both ways, by putting the address and also getting the link, the second is better because people get do more with the map. I have learned so much more. The attachment that you sent makes it easier to understand!! Thank you.
