Some of our members are unable to log in to the website. I have entered them in the database and their name appears in the drop down menu. They are able to set up a password, but when they go to log in as a member they get an error message saying the password is incorrect. One is a new member and the others are members who have re-set their passwords.

Yvonne,

Are they selecting their FTH member number when that is shown before entering their password?

Hi Roger,

I believe they have selected their full name and number. For our new member, I tried to log in for her on my computer and still got the error message. I know the other members have also tried on different computers. It's frustrating because we really want to start using our website more and want everyone to be able to log in.

Hi Brian,

Some of our members are not very technical at all, so I'm not sure they would really understand about checking their cookies. I can send them the Cookie Tester link.

But, if I can login as the web administrator and as a member, but I can't login for another member would that indicate a problem with cookie settings on their end or is it something else that is causing the problem?

Yvonne,

Thanks for posting on the support site. Each member needs to set their cookie settings on the computer per the information that Brian is mentioning. The "cookies" are just temporary storage files stored on each person's computer for each website they visit. FreeToastHost2 uses a cookie for storing login information. If the cookie file cannot be created or updated, then FreeToastHost2 may not be able to "remember" that someone is logged in. That is why each member needs to adjust their cookie settings.

Hi,

I've had people look into their cookies setting and everything seems to be in order in that department. So, something else must be causing the issue. Is there anything else I can look into so that we can have everyone able to log in to the website?

I was wondering if I could temporarily change that members e-mail address to one of mine, I could try to set a password for them, then after I verified that the password worked, go and change back their e-mail or if that would mess up the whole system.

It's getting very frustrating. We want everyone to use the website, but then these problems come up.

Yes you can do that. Just do not change their name and email address at the same time.

Yvonne,

Make sure your members are not trying to put their Toastmasters Member ID in for their login. The number that shows up is just an internal FreeToastHost number. It does not have any meaning for someone logging in even though that is what the system wants.
