I have set up our FTH website. I have purchased our domain name. I set up the nameservers. this has resulted in my not being able to make further changes. I thought I had already made changes to make the ___ point to the number I was provided with the FTH building info. I have gone to the forwarding part of the godaddy website. Forwarding= the domain is off. When I clicked on the ADD Forwarding the following information is what I received.

Add Forwarding

* Required

Preview Forward to: * http:// https://

Redirect type: *  301 (Permanent)
302 (Temporary)

Forward settings: *  Forward only Forward with Masking

Update my nameservers and DNS settings to support this change. (Recommended)

I would like to know what I do in order to point in the correct direction and have it stick at godaddy. Thanks for any light you may shed on the subject.

1) please post your club number in every post that way we can see what is going on.

2) We do not support domain forwarding.

3) what is the domain name you are using?

4) did you follow the instructions for custom domain names?

1) the name servers you are using do not exist

cranbrookphoenixtoastmasters1911.ca. 86400 IN NS ns1.freetoasthost.org.
cranbrookphoenixtoastmasters1911.ca. 86400 IN NS ns2.freetoasthost.org.

you need to use the GoDaddy name servers.

please review the godaddy instructions.

changed back to godaddy nameservers. This is all very confusing. I followed the directions from the FTH website set up. I really do not know what I am doing.

I will have to wait at least 48 hours before I can see your changes.

If you have done it correctly it will work by then.

That is why I put the following NOTE: in the website settings tab:

NOTE: Setting up a Custom Website Domain is a very technical task that we strongly recommend you read up on before attempting it: Instructions for setting up a Custom Website Domain.

Setting up a Custom Website Domain requires some patience and persistence. Also, while we try to keep our docs up to date, the custom domain registrars sometimes change their websites, so our docs are sometimes in a process of catch-up with them. If you find that our docs are a bit outdated, we certainly appreciate you posting any corrections in the documentation forum.

Just hang in there with Brian. He is a champ with this stuff. He got me set up back when I did not know anything about it either.

I have found that the following tools can also be very helpful, also as a quick way of checking whether you got the settings right:

viewdns.info/ (particularly the DNS Record Lookup and DNS Report tools)
