I have been the site administrator for a year.
Until November 2013, all parts worked great.
I now can not send emails.
The white hand goes up.
The email does not open.
I can not access the emails in order to send members info.
HEELLPP!!!!!

Is there a live person I can speak to?

Hopefully, you mean your club website profile and not the TM Intl website profile. The former one is the one that matters to us.

Did you verify your email addresses as accurate? People do misspell their email addresses occasionally and that would cause you to get "failed" on the email sender validation step.

The other things are:

1. If you are using a custom domain, need to make sure that the MX record is correct.

2. Brian can check the email logs to see what they show for your emails. We have had a few people over the last few months where their email providers are on SpamCop, and that will prevent email from being sent.

I feel as if we are old friends by now.

I sent the officers an email from my This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. account as that is the address listed on my TM officers account.
I went into the administrative console and deleted the gmail.
I replaced it with my SBC global account. Still no luck.
I reentered the gmail account, Saved it. Double checked it. Still no luck.

In reviewing #31454 I see where email has been sent, but receives a daemon as well.

Formerly, I would open the email address, the screen would show an email message writing box, I would write the message and then send it.

Currently, I hit the email address, the white hand stays in place, and no box or composition screen appears.

This is confusing... what composition screen? You cannot compose emails to the officers from within your club website, only from whatever email tool you use (e.g., gmail). If you are having issues with sending from gmail, then you need to discuss that with gmail's support.

Can you post a screen shot so that we can see exactly what you are referring to?

After that, the screen does not go to my gmail where I am able to post the email message.

You do not have a default email set up on your computer.

Google default email and choose which one is your preference, like: outlook, gmail, hotmail.

Also, you do not have to be logged in to FTH to use the email addresses.

You can open your email and type This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. in the To: field and send an email to all officers.

Even though we do provide MAILTO: links for the email addresses in the Club Email Addresses page, they will only actually work if you have a default email/MAILTO: handler set up in your system so that your system knows what to do when you click those links. It is a case where we do provide the links, but whether your system will know what to do with them when you click them is outside of our control. MAILTO: links are different than normal hyperlinks, since they depend on you setting up an email handler in your system to function.

Like RogerM is pointing you to, setting up the default handler for MAILTO: links is a system configuration task, *not* a FTH configuration task. We might be able to give you some suggestions on where to look to configure the handler, but it really is outside of our scope of support. You may just be better off using the officer email address directly in your email system like RogerM mentions.

RogerM: Related to configuring the web mail for MAILTO: links, I just found the following for Gmail, which looks interesting...

It probably will not work in IE, but I wonder about FireFox? I also understand that FireFox has a built setting for setting up MAILTO: links. Also, I think if you use Gmail Notifier, it will handle MAILTO: links regardless of browser used.

Also, from the following: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mailto ..

Some web browsers such as Opera, Firefox, and Chrome may be able to redirect clicks on mailto links to a chosen webmail service, but Internet Explorer as well as other browsers have no such capability.


There should be an easier way to set up the app for MAILTO: links. The existing approaches are just very kludgy. :pinch:

I use Outlook as my email on my laptop. Outlook is the upgraded hotmail (and the older MSN) by Microsoft, so it is easy to configure in Windows.

In IE, it is set up under Internet Settings Programs. It isn't difficult to set up, but there are so many possibilities, it is very difficult to know what the member is doing.
